Microdermabrasion Scrubs makes a demonstrated difference
Microdermabrasion has long been one of the most popular skin
procedures, as it's believed to improve the look of wrinkles,
hyperpigmentation, acne scars, etc. The proof of its effectiveness, however,
has been scant.
University
of Michigan researchers,
seeking to define microdermabrasion's true power, recently tested the treatment
on 40 volunteers, ranging in age from 50 to 83 and showing signs of sun damage.
Through a biopsy and biochemical analysis, Darius J. Karimipour, MD, and his
colleagues found multiple wound-healing and skin-remodeling responses.
Among the compounds that experienced increased production as a result of the
microdermabrasion are collagen precursors, antimicrobial peptides, MMP enzymes
(which inhibit damaged collagen), and a type of protein called cytokeratin. All
of these contribute to an objective improvement in age-effected skin.
Microdermabrasion scrubs and sticks help to remove dead skin and debris
on the surface of the skin. These dead skin flakes and particles can interfere
with the penetration of skin care products. Using a microdermabrasion cream not
only gives an immediately smooth, soft surface which is pleasing to the
customer, it also allows the active ingredients in your skin care topicals to
penetrate faster and more deeply into the skin. This means that you will get
better results from your other skin care products.
Microdermabrasion scrubs also speed up the exfoliation
process, helping to more rapidly fade age spots, blemishes, and scarring.
These scrubs most often contain one of the following mechanical exfoliating agents:
aluminum oxide crystals
diamond shaped crystals
jojoba beads
polyethylene Beads
rice
pumice
magnesium oxide crystals
What is the
importance of exfoliating using a Microdermabrasion scrub?
Microdermabrasion scrubs accelerate the removal of dead skin
cells allowing for new more vibrant energy to the skin. This daily exercise also
primes the skin for the benefits of skin serums and moisturizing. The secret is
to not get too aggressive on the skin – it doesn’t take much pressure to get
the benefit of the scrub. Tip:Use it in the shower for ease of removal.
